After a lot of careful thought and consideration we’ve decided to give the Good Vibes Omega Facia Oil and Laugh Out Loud Active Jojoba Oil a slick new look – they now come in fancy pants airless bottles!
This decision was made with great consideration as we know that some people love the glass dropper bottles.
Then why the change?
Glad you asked! 
The biggest reason why we switched was to better protect our precious facial oils.
The worst thing that can happen to oil is for it to oxidise and eventually go rancid. It will taste or smell off. Some oils will even smell fishy.
All oil oxidises but some are more susceptible than others. The higher the content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6) the faster the oil will oxidise. Hempseed oil, rosehip oil, sunflower seed oil and chia seed oil are a few examples (and the Good Vibes Omega Facial Oil is full to the brim with these fabulous oils!).
Other oils that are high saturated fatty acids (like coconut oil) or monounsaturated fatty acids (like olive oil) are slow to oxidise so you don’t need to worry too much about protecting them from air.
How can you stop oils from oxidising?
Unfortunately you can’t stop oils from oxidising, but you CAN slow it right down. This is extra important when you want to use incredible (but volatile) oils like hempseed, chia and rosehip.
Keep the temperature low
High temperatures are the fastest way to oxidise oil. The temperature should be kept as low as possible during processing, shipping and storing.
Cold pressed oils are the best for facial and body oils because they’ve been extracted without exposing them to heat. We use cold pressed oils as much as possible!
At home you should keep your oils in a cool, dry space.
Less air = Good
Air is a major contributor to oxidation and the reason behind using airless packaging for our more delicate oils. The more air that gets into a bottle, the more gate-crashing free radicals can get in. They quickly turn a good thing bad and leave you something you don’t want – rancid oil.
Airless packaging is the biggest, baldest, tattooed body guard to keep air and its free-radical-creating powers outside and away from your precious oils. This is why we’ve made the switch to airless packaging for the Good Vibes Omega Facia Oil and Laugh Out Loud Active Jojoba Oil.
Don’t let light in
UV light is another trigger for oils to oxidise so you should avoid oils that are packaged in clear or frosted bottles. Amber, black or violet coloured plastic/glass are the best UV protectors.
The Good Vibes and Laugh Out Loud are protected from both air and light with our new airless pumps.
Add antioxidants
To slow down oxidation you need something to stand up to the free radicals. Enter the antioxidant superheroes Vitamin E and Rosemary extract. These are the most common antioxidants used in plant oil products to slow down oxidation and provide a longer shelf life.
Woohoo Skincare uses Vitamin E and Rosemary extracts in the oils that require some superhero style protection.
Hopefully now you can see how vital it is to treat our special facial oils with a bit of extra love to make sure they stay as fresh as possible for as long as possible.
